Western State Conference Finals

The sleeping giant awakened at the Western State Conference Finals at Soule Park G.C. on Monday April 29th. Canyons (COC) won the Conference with two of its best rounds this season. Jack GREENE (COC) won medalist honors in the morning round while Nobuhiko WABAAKI (COC) won medalist honors in the afternoon round.

Canyons (COC), Santa Barbara City, and Ventura, who finished one-two-three, will compete in the SoCal Championships on Monday May 6th at Los Serranos G.C.

I received the data by cell-phone photo and will post more information when I can read the season ending stats which arrived yesterday but I can't "read" them in the sent form. I will await a "readable" format.

Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Finals

The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference contested their Conference Finals in tough conditions at El Camino CC on Monday April 29th with Palomar handling the tough conditions to win the Conference Championship. The morning round was wet and windy so scores were unusually high while the afternoon was simply cloudy and windy with scores lower than in the morning.

Palomar won the morning round with Mt San Jacinto taking second place. In the afternoon round Palomar won again with Desert (COD) taking second. The combined team scores for the AM + PM Rounds were 1) Palomar - 772; 2) Mt San Jacinto - 822; & 3) Desert (COD) 827.

In the morning round
Alfonso FRANCO (Cuyamaca) was medalist while in the afternoon round Clem HEURTIN (Desert) caught fire and won medalist honors. Tournament medalist was Alex RHEE (Palomar) with a combined 36-hole score of 148.

Palomar and Desert will advance to next Monday's SoCal Championships. While Alfonso FRANCO (Cuyamaca), Connor PIERSON (Mt San Jacinto), Valentin PLUMIER (Mt San Jacinto), Ryan OMOTO (El Camino), and Quentyn KOWATA (El Camino) will advance as individuals not members of the two qualifying team.

Results are posted.

Orange Empire Conference Finals

The Orange Empire Conference Finals held at Royal Vista G.C. (East/North) was full of great golf and high drama with defending State Champions Cypress College winning the overall Conference title for the first time since 1988. As I suggested Mt San Antonio served as the spoiler winning the morning round and finishing second behind Cypress who won the afternoon round.

Scores of five-under par 66's were the medalists scores in both the morning and afternoon rounds.
Han LEE (MtSAC) and Myoung KIM (Orange Coast) were medalists in the morning round while David MARRIS (Cypress) medaled in the afternoon round.

Cypress, Orange Coast, and Mt San Antonio will represent the Orange Empire Conference at the SoCal Championships next Monday at Los Serranos G.C. as they finished one-two-three in the final conference standings.

Chase BOSANKO (Saddleback) and Troy NEUVA (Irvine Valley) will compete as individuals not members of the qualifying teams.

Results are posted.
